Induction Days

How to Join

To join and before any training can commence it is compulsory that ALL new members attend an Induction Class first, which is held inside our Clubrooms.

The Induction class is your first lesson and is a verbal introduction about the club, our club rules  and dog training in general.

Induction class starts at 12.15pm sharp, so please ensure you get there on-time.

Late-comers will not be accepted.

After the induction talk, if you have decided to join our club, we'll get you to fill out an application form, present your dog's current vaccination card and pay your memberships fees. If you are a Dogs Victoria (or Victorian Canine Association) member you must bring your current Dogs Victoria Membership card to be exempt from paying the insurance levy.

Training of your dog starts the following week.

Dogs or Puppies are NOT required to attend the induction class.

So please leave your dog home.

As the induction sessions tend to fill quickly, it is advisable to ring and book your place as early as possible. Please do not leave it to the last minute as we do not want to dissapoint.

If you have any queries or wish to join please ensure that you make a booking by:

Emailing  induction@werribeeobediencedogs.org and state number of people attending, contact name, contact phone number and contact email address.

OR ring Jeannette  on 0403 362 373 from 9am to 7pm

OR we recommend you call into the Clubrooms (Saturdays only) during office hours 1:30pm and 3:30pm (Feb to Nov).

OR call the Clubrooms (Saturday only) on 9742 2277 1:30pm and 3:30pm  (Feb to Nov).

Induction days are only conducted generally once a month on a designated day.  Check the monthly calendar for induction dates.

We accept cash, cheque and eftpos/credit cards.

Membership Fees must be paid on the Induction day.

We cannot accept Children under the age of 7 years.

Membership is not transferable to another person, family member or to another club.  If a family joins, ALL members must do the induction.

The club's financial membership year is from 1st July to 30th June of each year. Depending on when you join, everyone's membership expires on the 30th of June of each year.   The onus is on the handler to ensure that both the handler and their dog is fit and healthy prior to participating in obedience, agility, tracking and/or other disciplines conducted by this Club.

Please inform us if your dog has any behavioural/aggression issues.

There is no training on Easter Saturday or Long-week-ends and we close down for a summer break over December & January.

Members from another club also need to make a booking to join the club.

We usually train Rain or Shine - although training can be cancelled on the day at any time depending on weather & ground conditions and we will implement our Heat Policy when the weather is over 30 degrees Celsius.

Currently we have time restricted training sessions when weather is between 30 and 34 degrees Celsius  and all training will be cancelled when weather is 35 degrees or over.

Instructors at Werribee Obedience Dog Club (W.O.D.C.) are holding their monthly meeting.  Over the last two (2) years we have invited the Induction class to attend our grounds at 7.00 p.m. on the Monday night following the Induction Day and commence Positive Reinforcement training, which in turn assists Instructions identifying any doggy issues and helps you acclimatise for future training.

This is totally voluntary and if you wish to attend, please inform the instructor taking the induction class on Saturday after Induction.

Please bring your dog / rewards and a warm coat.
